Is free attendance software actually free?
What free tiers in this category usually withhold, what ours does not, and the questions worth asking before you rely on one.
Usually it is free until the point you would rely on it. The pattern across the category is a free tier that tracks time and holds back the parts that make the record trustworthy — the geofence, the export, the second location, the audit trail — because those are what somebody pays to keep.
That is a legitimate way to build a business. It is worth knowing before you roll something out to forty people and discover the export is a paid feature.
The questions worth asking any vendor
Which checks are in the free tier? If location verification or device recognition is held back, the free tier records what people typed rather than what happened.
Can you get your data out? A full CSV export, on the free plan, without asking anybody. If not, the cost of leaving later is doing it by hand.
What happens at the limit? Some products stop recording. Some keep recording and hide the reports. The second is worse, and you find out in the month you needed them.
Is it free per user or free per feature? Free for ten people with everything included is a different product from free for unlimited people with half the product switched off.
How long is history kept on the free plan? Ninety days is common. If you need last year, that is the number that decides it.
Ours, plainly
Every check is on every plan. Geofencing, office Wi-Fi verification, shared-device detection, rotating codes, CSV export, attendance history, multiple locations. Nothing is held back for a higher tier — you pay for size, not for capability.
The Free plan is free within its limits, which are on the pricing table and are about how many people and how many locations, not which features work.
Everything is free during the beta, which is a real thing with an end date rather than a permanent state. The pricing page says what happens after, and it is the page to believe rather than this one — if the two ever disagree, that is our mistake and the pricing page wins.
What it costs to leave
One click. The attendance export is a CSV of every row we hold, on every plan, and it is the same file whether you are evaluating us or leaving us.
A product that makes leaving easy is making a bet that you will not want to. We would rather make that bet than hold your record hostage, and you should ask every vendor in this category the same question before you put a year of attendance into their database.
